Torsion Group wins £114m of new projects

Torsion Group has secured four major projects totalling £114m in the residential and student housing market.

The Leeds-based construction company’s first ever residential build will be in Manchester and is worth £25.9m.

Other new schemes include a £46m residential development in Birmingham for Select Property; a £10.2m student accommodation scheme in York; and a £32m student accommodation scheme with Bricks Group.

The project wins mean Torsion Group is on track to reach £122m turnover in 2023, almost double the £63.4m it turned over in the year to June 2022.

As well as the four contract wins, Torsion Group say it is planning to work on another four builds in Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, and Coventry to deliver a total of 881 beds by 2025. The group has not said whether it is working as contractor or developer on the schemes.

The group recorded a £288k profit from the year to June 2022 and its future order book now stands at £65.7m.

Chief executive Dan Spencer said: “Our first scheme in Manchester signifies a new chapter in our growth and is the first of a number of higher value projects that we are pursuing in the North West.”
