McLaren Construction has appointed a specialist M&E firm to carry out mechanical, electrical and plumbing work, worth £16m, at the new Aston Martin Formula One headquarters in the Midlands.
E7 Building Services is a regional division of the MEP specialist firm, Michael J Lonsdale Group, covering the Midlands and the North of England.
It was appointed to the job by McLaren Construction, which is the main contractor on the £200m site in Silverstone, Northamptonshire.
The specialist will handle the full MEP design and build for the brand-new facility, allowing it to manufacture and assemble race cars.
Specialist research, development installation, specialist gases, local extract ventilation systems and photovoltaic systems will also be carried out by the subcontractor on the 15,000-square-foot site.
The project being delivered will be a “smart factory” and the first of its kind in F1 manufacturing. This means that all the information and manufacturing processes will take place via data on the Cloud.
An E7 Building Services spokesperson said: “The building services are critical to providing robust, resilient and flexible operation of the facility, supporting the ever-evolving specialist processes needed to deliver a competitive F1 car.”
Work is under way on site and will be completed by May 2023.
Earlier this month, NG Bailey was appointed to build and carry out M&E works on a Britishvolt vehicle-manufacturing factory in the West Midlands.
