Business leaders from Bam, Kier and flexible-working specialist TimeWise will join the panel for a free webinar on 8 March to look at how flexible working can help the sector address its skills crisis.
The event is the first in the 2023 Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering programme – which is being jointly delivered by Construction News and its sister title New Civil Engineer – and will include an announcement about the Inspiring Women Awards and conference.
The webinar will be chaired by New Civil Engineer editor Claire Smith and forming the panel will be Bam executive director of people Andrea Singh, Kier head of diversity and inclusion Tracey Collins and TimeWise consultancy director Amy Butterworth.
Topics that will be discussed during the hour-long event include:
- The business case for flexible-working practices and how can they support you to attract, retain and nurture talent as well as encourage workforce diversity in your organisation.
- What impact are more flexible-working practices and changing cultures having for your business and workforce?
- What do good flexible-working practices look like?
- How will flexible-working practices improve diversity and inclusion in construction and engineering?
“The pandemic helped fast track changes in working patterns in the construction and civil engineering industries, which have brought both benefits and challenges,” said Smith.
“During the webinar discussion we are going to explore how the changes could unlock more potential in the sector by addressing gender balance, diversity and inclusion. The aim is to share best practice to ensure firms moving to new working arrangements get the maximum benefits for both their business and their staff.”
As well as listening to the panellists explore the topic, attendees will also have the opportunity to put their own questions to the speakers live during the event.
