Robertson scoops place on £414m ports framework

Robertson is among a host of contractors to win a spot on a five-year design and build framework for ports.

The £414m framework covers all design and build jobs that will be carried out across the UK. It could also cover construct-only agreements. The work will be focused exclusively on buildings at the ports.

Robertson was named on the framework alongside the likes of Knights Brown, which took two lots, JN Bentley and C Spencer (see full list of winners below). Robertson could be set to complete work worth up to £126m.

Associated British Ports is the client for the work.

The news comes in a week that also saw Robertson secure a place on a set of two frameworks for work in Yorkshire, worth £640m.

Last month, Robertson warned that inflation posed a “challenge” this year, particularly with regard to material and labour shortages.

But the firm did report a better profit total for the 12 months to 30 June 2021 in comparison with the previous year, for which its chairman, Bill Robertson (pictured), said the first COVID-19 lockdown “all but eradicated” gains made during the year before.
