Mott MacDonald to discuss benefits of digitising within supply chains

At next month’s CN Construction Meetup, Mott MacDonald principal information manager Michael Gaunt will discuss how digitisation within supply chains can help contractors avoid incorrect product selections amid the challenges of rising inflation and material costs.

Gaunt will lead a session on 14 July. A number of other solution providers are also lined up to speak at the exclusive event, from 1-5pm.

In recent months, the industry has experienced growing problems around supply-chain issues, caused primarily by disruptive global events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The session, being held at 4.30pm, will explore the contractor and supply-chain relationship, and how digitisation within supply chains can help to avoid inappropriate solutions.

Network Rail programme director for standards and improvement Mike Wright will lead a peer-to-peer table, focused on driving infrastructure innovation through supply chains.

Construction Meetup presents an opportunity for clients, contractors and subcontractors to meet selected solution providers at 15-minute in-person meetings.

It will offer the perfect opportunity for attendees to share best practice, identify solutions for meeting the industry’s toughest challenges, such as the skills challenge, and to discover innovative and impressive tech-led solution providers.

Following on from CN’s Decarbonising Construction conference, which took place earlier this week, Multiplex head of sustainability and energy Tushant Suri will facilitate a session on how technology can help to improve the built sector’s green credentials.

Carbon solutions expert Simon Sturgis insisted at the conference that the built sector desperately needed more guidance to deliver on the government’s net-zero ambitions.

Other content sessions at Construction Meetup cover emerging technology trends in construction, and consolidating data within construction to reduce risk and inform key decisions.

Approved attendees will have the chance to organise five or more meetings with solution providers and other attendees, to help foster collaboration with the supply chain in tackling industry challenges.

July’s event aims to bring together the whole built sector and provide solutions to help delegates overcome challenges, such as meeting net-zero targets, and improving health and safety on site, in addition to driving productivity.

During the event there will be a range of talks from solution providers, including:

  • Causeway;
  • Boss Cabin;
  • Hexagon;
  • RPC UK – technical director Dave Hurren will discuss the firm’s project control solutions;
  • IFS;
  • Dassault Systemes;
  • Cosuno; and
  • Prolectric.
