Firms get sight of £500m construction framework

Contractors have seen the first details of a £500m framework covering construction in the east of England.

The four-year framework, which is being run by Suffolk County Council, covers public sector construction and building services in the region and is split into five lots, depending on the value of the individual projects.

Activities on the framework include general construction, insulation and M&E work. It also lists demolition work, engineering jobs, and repair, maintenance and improvement work.

Work contracted through the £500m framework could also include plumbing and painting jobs, the tender states.

Lot one will cover work valued at up to £1m in total, while the second lot will be for jobs valued between £750,000 and £4.5m.

The third is for work worth more than £4m, with the fourth focusing on projects worth from £0 up to £100,000.

The fifth lot will cover work valued at between £75,000 and £1.5m.

The council is running the framework on behalf of public contracting bodies in the east of England, which covers Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. It will run from June 2023 to May 2027.

An information event on the work is being held by the framework client on 1 November at Trinity Park, Ipswich. Interested contractors can sign up to the event here.

Suffolk expects to publish the contract notice on 5 December.
