Women working in the construction and engineering industry have an extra 10 days to get their work recognised at the Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering Awards.
The deadline for the awards, which is jointly organised by Construction News and its sister title, New Civil Engineer, has been extended to 1 June.
The awards are part of a joint programme by the two magazines, and are sponsored by Curtins, Mott Macdonald and Wilmott Dixon.
Building on the previous NCE Recognising Women in Engineering Awards and CN Inspiring Women in Construction, the two publications will now work together to provide networking opportunities and learning resources to help women progress in their careers, and celebrate organisations that are great places to work for women.
The initiative is focused on mentoring this year and kicked off with a free webinar event. A workshop will follow this summer, before the awards on 6 October.
There are seven award categories open for entry, which will recognise the women and teams that stand out as exceptional. The awards are designed to showcase both individual and organisation-wide initiatives.
Entries must be made by 1 June.
Full details of the categories and criteria can be found on the event website, but the awards open to individuals are Technical Excellence, Contribution to Project, Inspirational Leadership, Contribution to Gender Diversity – which is open to anyone, not just women – and Rising Star. For organisations working in construction and civil engineering, the categories open to enter are Excellence in Outreach and Excellence in Business Culture.
The award winners will be announced at a gala event held in London on the evening of 6 October. In addition to winning a trophy, the winners will receive mentoring support through the programme to further boost their careers.
