Siemens Australia welcomes new CEO and Chairman

Peter Halliday, new CEO and Chairman, Siemens Australia.

Siemens Australia has announced the appointment of Peter Halliday, currently Senior Vice President at Siemens Smart Infrastructure, as the new chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) for the region, effective 1 September 2022.

In a career spanning 24 years at Siemens, Peter has held senior roles within the company in Australia, Asia and Europe. Prior to relocating back to his home country of Australia, Peter was the global head of Siemens’ Building Performance and Sustainability division operating out of Switzerland.

Peter brings a wealth of experience across various technology fields including engineering, project management, sales, business development, portfolio and senior management.

Current Siemens Australia Chairman and CEO, Jeff Connolly, will leave the company on the 31 August after a career of over 37 years with Siemens.

Matthias Rebellius, Member of the Managing Board for Siemens AG made the announcement saying, “We are pleased to confirm Peter as the new CEO for Siemens Australia.”

“Peter’s extensive local and global leadership and technical experience will be pivotal to shaping future growth and the digital transformation of our customers in Australia and New Zealand.

“I also want to thank Jeff Connolly for his incredible contribution to shaping the brand and reputation of Siemens in the region.

Jeff is not only highly regarded in Siemens but also across industry and government for his contributions to progressing critical topics related to manufacturing and Industry 4.0, the energy transition including hydrogen and the need for intelligent infrastructure in Australia.”

Speaking on the announcement, Peter said, “This is an exciting opportunity, and I am looking forward to working with the great team in the region to progress the company towards its next phase of growth. Technology and digitalisation will accelerate much needed outcomes for industry, infrastructure, and the environment.”

The timing coincides with Siemens celebrating their 150th anniversary in Australia this year as well as the announcement of Siemens Xcelerator, which is a new, open digital business platform featuring a curated portfolio of IoT-enabled hardware and software, a powerful ecosystem of partners, and a marketplace.

“Technology has been the backbone of all major transformations in Australia’s history, and proudly, Siemens has been at the centre of this for the past 150 years. Electrification and digitalisation will be at the core of Australia’s next 150 years including energy and industrial transitions,” added Peter.
